Skiing4all Programs

23 October 2011 -  3 May 2012

This season we offer five exciting programs: XS, S, M, L and XL, each running for five consecutive days from Sunday to Thursday.

We have created these programs based on our years of experience, making sure that there is a suitable program for every child, teenager or adult with special needs. We have also taken great care to match our program times with those offered by our affiliated ski schools so that everyone in the family can make the most of their skiing holiday.

What’s more, if siblings or friends of the main participant with special needs book one of our programs too, we will co-ordinate all the family skiing and activity times, locations, pick-ups, drop offs and lunch venues to make it even easier and convenient for you than ever before!

When to come?

Special Weeks:

October Half-term 23.10 – 27.10.2011
The fresh powder snow can already be found at our Kaprun glacier at this time of the year and you can be one of the first to enjoy it, away from the grey autumn skies! What’s more, you get better value for money: lower program prices, cheaper air fares, accommodation and skipasses!

Santa Week 04.12 – 08.12.2011
Santa comes to town! Perfect opportunity for photos with Father Christmas and to enjoy the magical Christmas story. Have fun at the three-day St Nicholas and Krampus Fiesta, a wonderful experience for all the family! While St. Nicholas brings presents to those children who have been good during the course of the year, Krampus is not so kind to the naughty ones… Plus it’s already time to enjoy all the magic of Advent (see below)!

Very Special Low Season!!!

We are aware of the UK policy on taking children out of school during the term time. However, many of the head teachers, having recognised the therapeutic value of their pupils’ experience with us, have let our skiers join us in the term time. January and March, especially, are the months when the slopes tend to be uncrowded with perfect snow conditions, and simply ideal for persons with learning difficulties. There are no lift or restaurant queues and of course you get a better value for money: lower program prices, cheaper air fares, accommodation and skipasses!

Alpine Advent 11.12 – 15.12.2011
Chance to enjoy the magical atmosphere of Advent in the Alps, with its Christmas Markets, brass bands, workshops and carol concerts! This is also your chance to see Salzburg with the Christmas lights on, apparently the most beautifully lit city in Europe. Enjoy the ride in the horse-drawn carriage through the Old Town under the blanket of snow, surrounded by the Alpine peaks. An unforgettable experience!

Christmas Weeks 18.12.2011 – 01.01.2012
Don’t just dream of white Christmas, enjoy it with us! There is no more magical time than Christmas in Zell am See, with the sleigh rides, hot wine, carol singers and presents waiting for children under the snow-capped trees. A picture perfect idyll!
Easter Weeks 01.04 – 12.04.2012
We are lucky to be able to ski 365 days a year at our Kaprun glacier. Easter is a wonderful time, with long sunny days, creating perfect opportunity to relax on our “snow beach” after the day’s skiing. Children love the Easter egg hunt with a difference. They find their treasures in the snow!

May Bank Holiday 29.04 – 03.05.2012
Enjoy a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend at our glacier! Still perfect snow, long sunny days and special events, including new season ski tests, live concerts and free massage drive-in!
What will it cost?

Our prices start from 315€ per week for the main participant and 185€ per week for the first sibling or friend.
The second sibling or friend can join our program for FREE! (See more details below).

Family Bonus!

The siblings of the main participant are more than welcome to enroll on one of our Skiing4all programs too! The first sibling receives a substantial discount while the second sibling can join our program absolutely free! (When following the same program as the main participant). This sibling offer applies to friends too, so why not come over with another family and save together?

The main participant with special needs always skis on a one-to-one basis but he or she may enjoy other activities with their siblings or friends.

There are two main options for siblings or friends:

a) Follow the same program type (XS, S, M, L or XL) as the main participant with special needs. This is the best value offer with prices for the first sibling or friend listed in the “Column B” of our price table. Perfect experience: the sibling would ski on a one-to-one basis but enjoy other activities with other children (max.3:1 care ratio). The second sibling or friend can join the program free of charge! In this instance, the two children would ski together (two children to one instructor).

b) Follow a different program type (XS, S, M, L or XL) from the main participant with special needs. In this case, we still offer special discounts: the first sibling or friend receives 10% off the Main Participant’s prices listed in the “Column A”. The second sibling receives 70% off the Main Participant’s prices listed in “Column A” (when skiing with the first sibling).
XSPRE-SKISCHOOL   - “Skiing Foundation Course

Crèche from 09.45 to 15.15, Sunday to Thursday.

Meeting and collection point: Intersport Areit ski shop, conveniently located by the ski lifts, ski lockers and the affiliated ski school meeting point for you.

Suitable for children with learning difficulties over 4 years old, teenagers and adults with special needs, and their siblings or friends over 3 years old.

This program is suitable for children who are still too young for skiing and those children, teenagers and adults who due to their high anxiety levels associated with new places and activities, should begin their skiing in a very gradual way (true especially for the participants with autism). During their time with us, among other fun activities, the participants get introduced at their own pace to the world of skiing through play, short trips to the slopes, and activities related to snow, skiing and equipment. The overall aim is to awaken their desire to ski in the future and to minimise any possible anxiety associated with trying this new activity. In our experience this “skiing foundation course” is a great base on which to develop skiing skills the following season. We have found that a week happily spent at our crèche is a great predictor of the future skiing success.

TIP: Our crèche is also a great contingency plan for those parents who would like to book skiing programs with us but are not sure if their child would enjoy skiing as much as we do! Should your child prefer other activities after all, or feel a bit under the weather one day, they can change to our crèche free of charge at any point and for any duration.

Optional activities: we can also take the participants to the following activities during their crèche time: swimming, horse-riding, Nordic-walking, Glacier Experience, snow-shoeing and lama trekking.
SFirst Skiing Experience

Time: from 08.20 to 09.45, Sunday to Thursday:
Free pick-up from the hotel at 08.20.
One-to-one skiing from 08.45 to 09.45.

This program is perfect for complete beginners, very young children and those whose attention span will now allow them to ski for longer than one hour. The sessions take place exclusively at the nursery slope at 750 metres altitude, equipped with the 150-metre long “magic carpet” ski lift, perfect for beginners. Please note that all complete beginners with special needs spend their first morning getting accustomed to the new environment, ski lifts and start skiing on the second day. From our experience, this gradual introduction helps to reduce anxiety, giving the participants time to get used to their skiing gear & skiing environment. The participants receive their skiing equipment towards the end of the first day, in a peaceful environment, and get the opportunity to get used to it before the next day on the slope. This introduction day helps the participants achieve more during the rest of the week when compared to those who started skiing on their first day.

We pick up the participants every day from their hotel at 08.20 a.m. and change them into their skiing gear at the Intersport ski shop by the slope. We ask you to collect your child at 09.45 from the Intersport Areit ski shop (unless they are following Program M, in which case we help them out of their ski gear and bring to the crèche ourselves).

TIP: This program is also a perfect “trial course” for those who are not sure if their children are ready for skiing.
